Edward “Eddie” T Belford (December 16, 2015 )

Edward T. Belford, 58 years young, Ret. Juv. Det., of Tobyhanna, Pa., formerly of Fanwood, N.J., died on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at his home with his wife Robin by his side.

The Funeral will be on Monday, December 21, 2015 from the Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Ave., Scotch Plains, NJ 07076 at 10am. A Funeral Service will be at 10:30am at the funeral home. The Visitation will be on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the funeral home from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

Edward was born in Plainfield, grew up in Westfield, and lived in Fanwood for 29 years, where his raised his children with his wife. He and his wife retired to Tobyhanna, PA, in 2014. Edward retired from the Westfield Police Department in 2005 as a First Grade Detective in the Juvenile Bureau. He was with the Westfield Police Dept. for 26 years. and was assigned as the DARE Instructor in 1997. His time in the Juvenile Bureau and as a DARE officer is what he loved most about his years on the force. In 2000, he was assigned as the Coordinator of Westfield Police Department Neighborhood Watch. Edward dedicated all of his free time to coaching his children in their many sports, and being a part of their extracurricular activities. He coached P.A.L wrestling and football, as well as Little League and American Legion Baseball.

He was a mentor and "father figure" for many. He was the man that everyone looked to for answers, and he was always considered a “problem solver”. Partly due to his positive outlook on life, and also because of the selfless and loving man that he was. He was an avid sports fan, but nothing came close to the love he had for playing Softball on his many different teams over the years. Edward is remembered as many things, but there was nothing more important to him than the love for his children and his wife, as well as his entire family.

Edward is survived by his wife Robin nee Bonnetti; his two sons Brad (Vanessa) and David; his daughter Lauren Case (Jeff); his parents Abram and Jacqueline Belford; his two granddaughters Addison Case and Mackenzie Belford; his brother Paul; his two sisters Maryann Belford-Moore and Kathy Bowles; his In-laws Robert and Nancy Bonnetti; his three sister-in-laws Kimi Trainor, Tami Bonnetti, Chris-Ellen Taylor; and his late sister-in-law Jill Clark; and his 12 nieces and nephews, and 1 grand-nephew.
