Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nelsen Funeral Home - Williamsburg on Feb. 2, 2024.

John Patrick Wilson, November 26, 1956 - January 31, 2024, passed away suddenly at home in Williamsburg, Virginia with his wife of 27 years, Pat Wilson. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Lucy Wilson, of Westfield, New Jersey. He is survived by his wife, Pat Wilson; his sister, Jeanmarie Wilson Keenan, and her husband Don, his nephew Donny Keenan and his wife Lisa, his other nephew Patrick Keenan and his wife Morgan, and his two grandnieces Aila and Diana. He is also survived by many family members in Missouri.

John and Pat were married May 25, 1996 in The Presbyterian Church of Westfield, NJ, and enjoyed a very active life with many friends in Westfield. John and Pat moved to Williamsburg, VA in May of 2022 to begin the path to retirement.

Born in Philadelphia in November of 1956, John moved to Westfield, NJ, in 1965. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop 72 at the Presbyterian Church of Westfield, a varsity athlete and volunteered as a member of the Y's Men, helping to raise money for projects associated with the YMCA of Westfield. He was a 1975 graduate of Westfield High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ.

John had a successful 40-year commercial real estate appraisal career where he earned the professional MAI and AI-GRS designations from the American Appraisal Institute. He was known for his commonsense approach to resolving complex problems and explaining those resolutions to his clients.

Most of all, John loved to spend time with his wife and his family. John enjoyed football (Go, Giants and Chiefs!) and played throughout high school. He was also a skilled wrestler and won a New Jersey State Championship in 1976. John developed a love for golf and enjoyed playing with his father and friends. In relocating to Williamsburg, VA, he chose to live on the 12th tee of the Kingsmill River Course. A lifelong animal lover, John and his wife became strong supporters of the Heritage Humane Society in Williamsburg. He will be missed by the many lives he touched.

Arrangements are being handled through Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg, VA. A memorial service will take place in the spring in New Jersey. To remember John, donations may be made to the Heritage Humane Society in Williamsburg.
